Snozzcumbers and Frobscottle! The Wonderful World of Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake , is currently being exhibited across two of Ayrshire’s most intimate museum spaces, The Doon Valley Museum, Dalmellington and the Baird, Cumnock.

Together Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake created modern classics such as ‘The BFG’, ‘Matilda’ and ‘The Twits’.

Dahl was not only an author but a master of marvellous characters and amusing stories which Blake brings perfectly to life with his witty illustrations.

Since 1978 Quentin Blake has illustrated all of Roald Dahl’s stories and rhymes for children.

Their books have been translated into over 40 languages and have been seen on both the small and silver screen.

Today Blake’s pictures are the most instantly recognisable illustrations in children’s literature.

Using fabulous original artwork, spectacular visuals and lots of family-friendly interactives, this exhibition invites visitors to step into their weird and wonderful world!

Leader of the Council, Douglas Reid, said: “It’s fantastic that we have such a high profile exhibition in our rural museum spaces – it’s probably the biggest exhibition we’ve ever had in Cumnock and Dalmellington.’

A series of educational workshops are also planned during the run. The Baird and Doon Valley are open from Thursdays to Saturdays and the exhibition runs until 12th December.

Both museums are managed by East Ayrshire Council’s Arts and Museums service.Visit www.visiteastayrshire.com
