A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash between what's believed to be a car and a school transport vehicle this morning (September 9).

The incident happened on the B713 road between Sorn and Catrine at around 8.15am.

Residents recall hearing "massive noise like a roll of thunder" after the two-vehicle crash.

All pupils are believed to be safe and well, but one woman has been taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for a short period of time, while emergency services attended the scene and vehicle recovery could be carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Officers were called to a report of a two vehicle crash on the B713 near to the village of Catrine, East Ayrshire around 8.15am on Friday, 9 September, 2022.

"The road was closed for a short time to allow for vehicle recovery.

“A woman was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.”
