The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain for East Ayrshire and other parts of Scotland.

The national weather service has put in place the warning from 3 pm until 11.45 pm on Thursday night.

It has been predicted that heavy rain may cause travel disruption, and flooding in a few places through the afternoon into the evening.

The Met Office has told us to expect the following:

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer by car and bus, with rail services possibly also affected by flooding.
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.
