Roadworks will be in place between New Cumnock and Kirkconnel from next week.

The two-week project, beginning on Monday, August 22, is set to last until Tuesday, September 6.

Works will be from Overcairn Farm to west of Polshill Bridge.

Construction will be undertaken using a daytime convoy system, between 7am and 6pm each day with traffic management removed beyond these times.

To complete the works, additional overnight temporary traffic management will also be in operation from 6pm on Monday, September 5 until 6am on Tuesday, September 6.

All traffic management will be removed by 6am Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

It is hoped that the work, with a value of £537,243, will benefit around 4,000 vehicles using this route each day by improving the condition of the road surface and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in future.

It's the second set of roadworks affecting drives leaving New Cumnock in a few weeks, after drivers face an 80-mile detour after works took place between Lime Road and River Afton Bridge.

Road users will face no such up upheaval this time, but they are being asked to plan their journeys in advance.
