PROBLEMS with pharmacy supplies have been raised by people living in New Cumnock – after similar issues in Cumnock were reported by the Chronicle.

People in the village have reportedly resorted to going to the pharmacy in Logan instead due to long wait times at the Lloyds Pharmacy branch in New Cumnock.

Resident Rab Wilson raised the issue with NHS Ayrshire and Arran, saying: “The system that was in place for a number of years has worked absolutely fine, but when ordering up my latest prescription I was informed their system had changed.

“If this is a general failing of this new system of providing prescribed medications for customers then I am afraid that there may be quite a few people locally who have been having problems with the new system.”

In a response seen by the Chronicle, Mr Wilson was assured that the issue would be investigated.

Shortly after, Mr Wilson spoke with some fellow residents about the problems at the New Cumnock facility. One said: “We changed to Logan pharmacy a few weeks ago due to the time it was taking at Lloyds.”

While another added: “Most Lloyds chemists are the same. I have used Ochiltree for years and when I have nipped in to Lloyds in Cumnock nothing but problems when I get something new when at the surgery.”

Mr Wilson also received the following response from Lloyds responding to his concerns around the Cumnock branch, with the company stating: “We have changed our prescription ordering services and removed the Express Repeat Service.

“The pharmacy at Cumnock is undergoing a period of severe operational difficulty, and our field management team are working closely with the pharmacy team to improve the standard of service for all patients.

“Staff sickness, and the implementation of a new computer system have significantly affected operations.

“We are working closely with the health board to support our patients at Cumnock and our colleagues in the pharmacy.”

A spokesperson for LloydsPharmacy said they will be looking into any issues.
