PEOPLE in Ayrshire are being urged to join in a ‘memory walk’ next month in support of one of the area’s best-known charities.

The Shining Star Memory Walk takes place on Saturday, August 27 and will see participants set off from Ayr Racecourse at 8pm, walking until 1am the next day.

First aid, support vehicles and refreshment stops will be situated along the route.

Three routes – over four, nine or 13 miles, named the Pulto Plod, Saturn Stomp and Jupiter Jaunt respectively – are open to participants, with the walk winding from Ayr Racecourse through the streets of Ayr and Alloway.

Each walker will receive a coloured T-shirt, water, fruit, snack, certificate and commemorative medal on completion of the family-friendly event.

Robin Henderson, head of business at Lookers Ayr Audi, the event’s main sponsor, said: “Ayrshire Hospice is a fantastic organisation that makes a positive impact on so many people at some of the most challenging times of their lives.

“As the main sponsor for The Shining Star Memory Walk and a charity partner for the Hospice in 2022, we are blown away by the incredible work they do.

“At Lookers Audi Ayr, we aim to play our part in making the walk a huge success for the hospice and for all the people they help.

“The team and I will be there on the night to show our support for the hospice and to support everyone taking part.

“We’d encourage people to register for the event for a great experience in aid of a wonderful organisation.

“It’s set to be another incredible event, all in aid of an organisation that does so much good for Ayrshire and we’re delighted to again be able to show our support.”

All the money raised will be used directly to support Ayrshire Hospice’s work providing specialist palliative care and services to people across Ayrshire who are affected by life-limiting illnesses.

The charity, which has been providing specialist palliative care across Ayrshire for more than 30 years, offers invaluable support to adults affected by life-limiting illness by helping them live as actively as possible until the end of their lives, however long that may be.

And funding support remains vital.
