AN OPEN space in Cumnock has had a makeover – giving residents and visitors alike a chance to find out more about the area’s history.

Completed by the Cumnock Action Plan, the first phase of the revamp of the Armitage Drive space to turn it into a ‘memory garden’ features stones, signs and benches as well as information panels telling users about the site’s past.

Built on the site of the former Shankston Bing, the garden also features signage The field off of Armitage Drive in Cumnock has been given a makeover as stones, signs and benches have been installed at the new heritage site of the memory garden.

Completed by Cumnock Action Plan, phase 1 of the new garden offers residents the chance to learn some of the past of Cumnock, as well as take a seat and enjoy the garden.

As part of a drive to get people active, new signage has also been introduced, detailing how some simple exercises can be performed from a sitting position, or from a standing position.

Cumnock Action Plan’s great work around the town will continue in the coming months.
