Lochnorris Supported Learning Centre has achieved the Communication Friendly Schools Accreditation.
There has been an increase in communication difficulties such as Autism and non-verbal pupils at the school. Staff recognised the need to evolve and adapt their practice to support these growing needs.
Staff focused on using a total communication approach, including learning more about symbols as visuals, using Makaton and Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
