A man has been arrested and charged after a large quantity of class A drugs was found in a property in Cumnock.

The home in Bute Road was searched by police last week (Thursday, June 16) and a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the raid, as the drugs with a street value of £10,000 were recovered, police say.

Officers from Ayrshire Divisional Pro-active team, acting under warrant, entered the home at around 6pm on the night.

It's the second story this month where a large quanitity of drugs have been recovered from a Cumnock home, after drugs worth £25k were found in raid on Cumnock property at the start of the month.

Inspector Iain Farmer of Ayrshire Division said:“Tackling drug dealing and drug abuse remains a priority in East Ayrshire and we will continue to deal with this issue, which has such and negative impact on people and our communities.

“The public can be assured that we will act on information and target those involved in any criminal activity.”
