A POPULAR annual event in the East Ayrshire cultural calendar has been scrapped, organisers have confirmed.

The cancellation of the Kames Car Show will come as a big blow to motor vehicle enthusiasts who gather each year in East Ayrshire to show off their unusual automobiles.

The event is usually held at the Kames Motorsport complex in Muirkirk and welcomes members of car clubs from across the country.

John Gray from East Ayrshire Car Club, the organisers of the Kames Car Show, did not reveal the reasons behind the cancellation of this year’s event.

He said: “Kames Car Show has been cancelled.

“Apologies to all who supported the show over the past few years.

“Thank you for making it the success that it was.”

It is not yet known whether Mr Gray’s announcement means a permanent end of the road for the event.

The Chronicle contacted Mr Gray to seek clarification on the future of the event, but had not received a response at the time of going to print.

The Kames event was the only car show in all of Scotland to take place in 2020, and they managed an event last year as well, with vintage car enthusiasts and ‘petrolheads’ flocking to the venue in August.
