Once East Ayrshire Woodlands Forester Reg Briers had given them a quick tree planting demonstration, the pupils wasted no time and worked hard, managing to plant all 300 trees successfully.

The pupils also had a great time learning about some of the trees which they had selected and how they would develop and grow through time.

One hundred tagged trees within the Wee Forest will be monitored by pupils along with other wildlife monitoring within the area.

The Wee Forest is designed so that it has a small monitoring path running through it and two small teaching areas adjacent to each other.

Training teams will fence the Barony Wee forest, which will incorporate an access gate into it and benches within the teaching areas.
