Have you ever found yourself wondering what Cumnock looked like before you were born, or even trying to remember what it looked like years ago?

A quick search on Google Maps will even allow you to go as far back and view Cumnock when the precinct was there, when the picture house was still standing, and even before any houses were built at Knockroon.

However, one video on YouTube can take you back on journey long before that.

Member of the Cumnock History Group, Campbell Tanner, from Cumnock, shared his video of "A drive through Cumnock".

The video was taken all the way back in July 1989.

Just seven weeks before the video was taken, Cumnock Juniors had been crowned Scottish Juniors Cup champions for the second time.

The video, which has no sound, starts with a drive up Glaisnock Street, showing the old Texaco fuel garage- which is now the Central Garage.

And yes, petrol was MUCH cheaper back then. Appearing to be only 41.7 pence per litre for unleaded, and 39.5 pence per litre for diesel.

It then shows a panoramic view of what appears to be Cumnock from Skares Road, before then driving back down through Glaisnock Street.

Next it travels along Ayr Road, revealing what may be a shock to some younger readers, that the road used to be one-way.

Passing along Tanyard, it then gives a view of the old Cumnock bus station.

Another shock to some youngsters will be that the video shows that there is no direct access to Barrhill Road from Tanyard.

Instead drivers had to drive through the Square, towards the now 1906 bar and make a left turn to access Barrhill road.

The video then takes on a view of Cumnock, Craigens, Barshare and Netherthird from the top of the road.

It finishes with a drive down through Drumbrochan Road and back into Barshare.
