Last week marked the end of an era for a legendary figure at Tanyard Muirkirk Medical Group (TMMG).
Marie Chalmers retired after more than 45 years of service to the NHS, with 22 of those being right here in Cumnock at the Tanyard centre.
Marie ended her final day in style, as her colleagues celebrated her and all the great work she has done.
A TMMG spokesperson said: “Most of you will know Marie - you’ll have heard her soothing tones on triage and had the pleasure of her care (and banter) over the years.
“From her expertise in diabetes management to her skill in attending to wounds and beyond, she’s been the “mother” of the practice and looked after us all, not just the patients.
“Over 45 years of service to the NHS, and over 22 of those years here with us in Cumnock and more recently looking after Muirkirk too. “Legend” seems fitting.
“We will miss your experience but most of all your laughter. Don’t be a stranger.”
