A savvy snapper has captured still images of one of the most spectacular sights on earth - over Ayrshire.
Photographer Neil Given took the fantastic photos of the Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights, above Dunure Castle.
It was a rare sight for those of us in the west of Scotland, so Neil wasted no time in snapping up the opportunity.
The effect is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with atoms in the upper atmosphere.
All images were taken by Neil Given and posted in the Cumnock Chronicle Camera Club.
