Glenafton Athletic manager Mick McCann hailed defender Ryan McChesney as a ‘club legend’ after his departure from the club last week.
The club announced the centre back would be leaving after their 2-1 win over Kilbirnie Ladeside at the weekend.
The 29-year-old has moved to Maybole Juniors and departs the club having won a huge list of titles including the Scottish Junior Cup, Super League Premier Championship and Evening Times Champions Cup during his tenure.
Speaking to the Chronicle, McCann said: “I played with McChesney for half of the decade he has been at the club, he is a great lad and a cracking defender.
“He has done great for the Glens and he has won every honour there is to win in the Junior game with Glenafton.
“So, he is definitely a club legend.
“He is still young, in a football terms of view, and he is away to Maybole but it might not be the end for him at the Glens, things can happen.
“But I think the timing is right for him to kick on again get his career going, getting back playing week in week out and I am sure he will smash it at Maybole.”
