Ayrshire Hospice’s first ever Firewalk fundraiser will take place at Ayr Rugby Club on Wednesday, January 26.

Supporters of the service will brave the heat as they walk across hot coals all in aid of the local charity.

On the night, the fire walkers will be asked to complete a 90-minute workshop hosted by Firewalk Scotland before taking to the coals, ensuring everyone completes the walk safely and confidently.

Each individual walk will be recorded and given to the supporter to immortalise the moment and share with family and friends.

Spectators are also encouraged to head along to Ayr Rugby Club to cheer on and support the walkers.

Records of firewalking date back to 1200 BC, when the first recorded firewalk took place in India during the Iron Age, and is often used in healing ceremonies in countries all over the world.

Carla MacEwan, chief executive of Ayrshire Hospice said: “I am very excited to invite you to participate in the first Ayrshire Hospice Firewalk, appropriately to be held around Burns Night 2022.

“I’m thrilled for Ayrshire Hospice to be hosting this Firewalk as I believe it is a great opportunity not just to raise much needed funds for the hospice but also to take on a personal challenge.

“If you would like to test your willpower and try something new and different, please join us in stepping out across the coals.”

Ayrshire Hospice has been the sole provider of specialist palliative care across Ayrshire and Arran for over 30 years.
