Planning chiefs have approved 12 new homes to be built in New Cumnock and have also given planning permission in principle for a separate development consisting of six properties.
An application was submitted by Mitchell Construction for 12 houses at the former Bank School, Bank Glen on the outskirts of New Cumnock.
The site lies between 48 Burnfoot Road to the west and the old Schoolhouse/Manse to the east.
The development will be made up of a mixture of three-bed bungalows, three-bed 1.5 storey buildings, and three-bed two-storey buildings.
There will be 28 parking spaces created at the site and an access road built too.
A SUDS basin will also be installed to help drain the area.
An area of open space will be left for residents.
The application did not receive any objections from residents.
Another application, this time for planning permission in principle for six new properties, submitted by Mr John Robert Howat, was approved for the land adjacent to 6 Burnside.
Full details of these proposals will now be submitted to the council at a future date.
