East Ayrshire could be set for some snow during this festive period as weather experts predict parts of the country could become coated in white over the weekend.
A yellow weather warning for snow has been issued by the Met Office for an area incorporating much of East Ayrshire, Dumfriesshire, Lanarkshire, the Borders and parts of the Highlands.
Locations in the north of England will also be affected.
The warning will come into effect from 12.15am on Boxing Day morning (Sunday, December 26) and will last until midday.
The forecaster says snow and strong winds will probably affect some higher elevations, leading to possible disruption, mainly to travel.
They add that some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snow or ice, leading to longer journey times by car, as well as by bus and possibly train services.
