A special Christmas market is coming to Cumnock this week - with stalls, sweets and surprises in store for both kids and adults.

Shoppers can head to the Christmas market in Cumnock Town Hall this Friday [December 10] where a selection of potential gifts will be on offer such as craft ornaments, decorations and candles.

Father Christmas will be paying the children a visit and Da Vinci's Café will be supplying the food and drink, too, meaning there will be lots going on to satisfy the whole family.

Lexy Scott, who has organised the event, said: "There will be different stalls so we have floristry, wreaths, photography, a craft company doing different craft ornaments, decorations and candles and a gift company doing sweet stuff.

"There will also be wee ideas for kids, the body shop, bags and jewellery.

"Release Ayrshire, the mental health charity, will be there fundraising for their raffle, too, so we'll be supporting them.

"Santa will be there but unfortunately all the spots are filled for Santa visits. Parents can still bring their kids, though."

She added: "It's just a community event to get people involved in for Christmas.

"The money raised will go towards paying for the hall, Christmas presents for kids or donated to Release Ayrshire."

The event will run from 5-8pm.
