Cubs and Scouts from the 34th Ayrshire 1st Mauchline Scout Group got into the American lifestyle recently as they enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

Members were treated to some cultural insight, amazing food and traditions from across the pond from Californian leader, Jamie, as they all sat down together for Thanksgiving.

Jamie prepared an awesome feast of Mac n Cheese, stuffing and amazing Candied Yams (sweet potato), followed by pumpkin pie or apple pie.

After warming up with a mass dodgeball battle, they set out their tables in one big line and got down to some festive activity sheets.

All the youngsters, and the adults, had lots of fun and games celebrating the famous American holiday with each other.

The Cubs and Scouts are loving being able to be back with their friends and learning like they did before lockdown.

After the fun and games, it was time for them all to sit down and enjoy their wonderful meal and chosen dessert.

A representative from 34th Ayrshire 1st Mauchline Scout Group said: “We also each wrote down a little message on a paper leaf, that will be made into a display on our wall to act as a reminder of all the things for which we are grateful. There were some lovely messages.

“Then it was time to feast.

“Thank you so much to Jamie for all her hard work in preparing all the delicious food and the activities.

“From everyone at 34th Ayrshire Scouts we wish you and the rest of the family a very happy Thanksgiving – we are so grateful to have you on our team.

“Oh, and one of our strongest characters got pied. We’re pretty sure he deserved it, but in any case he took it well, with a smile.

“Tell the kids we think the impossible anagram had a minor typo and should have been “cranberries.”
