An East Ayrshire councillor has been handed a top prize for her work as a local politician.
SNP Councillor Claire Leitch, who represents Ballochmyle, was named Champion for Education at the 2021 Cllr Awards.
The Cllr Awards are the only national prizes to celebrate the vital contributions of local councillors across Scotland.
The awards ceremoney took place yesterday evening at Glasgow City Chambers.
Cllr Leitch was recognised for her determination and her representation of the youth voice in all decision making throughout the council.
She was also celebrated for her work giving children and young people the power to shape council decisions.
The annual Cllr Awards are now in their fourth year and have continued to celebrate the best of local government.
Competition was particularly tight this year with close to 100 nominations received, said organisers.
The winners were selected by a group of judges that included senior councillors and leading stakeholders from across the sector.
