A mystery driver is alleged to have caused a three-vehicle crash in New Cumnock before getting out of the car and 'legging it'.

Cops are probing the incident which happened at around 9.10pm on Saturday, November 6 in the Connell Park area.

Extensive damage was done to the car which caused the crash, as well a number of stationary cars at the side of the road.

The car involved is believed to be a black Volks Wagen Polo.

It is understood the driver of the Volks Wagen collided with a number of cars on the street, before leaving the car where it was and fleeing the scene.

Police confirmed to the Chronicle that "enquiries into the incident are ongoing".

A helicopter that was seen flying over New Cumnock on the same night is not understood to be connected to this incident.
