Cumnock is set to feature in a new programme detailing the day-to-day life of towns across Scotland.
Presenter Ian Hamilton and his guide dog Major will be touring the towns to find out what makes them tick.
'My Kind of Town' will air on BBC Scotland on October 27, between 8pm and 8.30pm.
Ian came along to hear about how the town plans to transform itself into the country’s first ‘green’ town.
Once a major hub of coal mining, Cumnock now wants to produce all its own electricity from renewable energy and become carbon neutral.
Ian and Major also travelled to see the Emergency One Group, a company specialising in modular house-building, Yipworld, and, of course, a trip to Townhead Park to see the home of Cumnock Juniors.
He also goes out to find out about organic farming at Mossgiel farm and environmentally friendly gardening at Dumfries House, and meets up with Keir Mitchell, of local band The Frontiers, and discusses local heritage and how young people see it.
On his trip to the town, Ian said: “People in Cumnock have a real pride in their town…They are looking forward to a brighter future.”
After coming to Cumnock, the programme will then focus on Shotts in North Lanarkshire, Arbroath and Stornoway.
Ian continued: “I want to get away from any well-worn narrative and get under the skin of these places. What are the community and generational dynamics? Where are the old timers and who are the new kids on the block?”
