Care home residents in Auchinleck were treated to a dazzling awards ceremony at the end of last month, giving much-deserved applause to staff and colleagues who have went above and beyond in recent times.

On Friday, September 24 Glennie House welcomed the Maria Mallaband and Countrywide 2021 Annual Care Awards which were created to acknowledge and pay tribute to the individual colleagues and teams nationwide who have demonstrated excellence within their field.

The awards, now in their seventh year, aim to recognise the efforts of colleagues and the positive impact that they have on the lives of residents and their families.

One member of staff acknowledged by the awards body was Kimberley McCracken, a valued night shift care assistant who was nominated for carer of the year by colleagues, residents and families.

Jenny Karimlar, deputy manager, said: “Kimberley joined Glennie House nearly three years ago, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience.

“Her patient, calm, quiet confidence proves reassuring to all around her.

“Often the first one staff turn to for guidance and advice regarding care, Kimberley knows her residents as individuals and her love and dedication to provide them with the highest standards of care never falters.”

She continued: “Kimberley goes above and beyond for each individual in a way personal to them. Nothing is any trouble to her and she simply sees any requests they may have, no matter how big or small, as part of her job.

“Kimberley is awesome and a pleasure to be around with her bubbly personality and the biggest heart, bursting with pride in the knowledge that she is doing the best for her residents. Kimberley is a great asset to our residents, our home, and the whole company.”

On the day, Kimberley and residents enjoyed an Oscar themed party with afternoon tea while watching the awards ceremony via Microsoft teams.

A red carpet-style backdrop was also erected in the care home which allowed for residents to have a few photo opportunities and pose in their finery.

Congratulations to Kimberley and all at Glennie House for pulling off such a special event for all.
