The area around a fish and chip shop has been made secure and a casualty has received the all clear following a blaze in Muirkirk on Tuesday afternoon.
Garan Fish Bar, located on Main Street, caught fire around 2.44pm on Tuesday [October 4], with photos showing plumes of smoke rising from the burned out shop.
Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze, alhough the road was closed for several hours due to the incident. It has since reopened.
One casualty at the scene also received a precautionary check but was given the all clear.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.44pm on Tuesday, October 5 to reports of a building on fire at Main Street, Muirkirk.
“Operations Control mobilised four appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a commercial property within a two-storey building.
“One casualty received precautionary checks and crews left the scene after ensuring the was made safe.”
