Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan applauded the forward play of defender Aiden Wilson as he notched the winner during their 2-1 victory over Carluke Rovers in the Scottish Junior Cup.

Bot took the lead in the first half of the second round tie, when Keir Samson acrobatically headed in Jamie Glasgow’s cross.

Dominic Small then equalised for the hosts at the John Cumming Stadium, smashing in a deflected free kick into the top right-hand corner.

Wilson popped up with the Bot winner late in the second half, when a cleared ball found it’s way to him at the edge of the box.

The defender hit the ball first time as it took a deflection through a sea of bodies to end up in the back of the net.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sloan said: “Wilson found himself forward quite often at the weekend trying to get us down the left hand side.

“But rather than cross the ball he has taken a shot which flew into the net and gave their goalkeeper no chance.

“I am delighted that he is chipping in now with an odd goal or two as we need that from everyone in the team.”
