Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan applauded the goal scoring prowess of Dwayne Hyslop as the midfielder scored yet again in their 3-0 win over Cumbernauld United.

Hyslop has been returning to fitness over the past couple of weeks for the Bot and has been in fine form since his return.

He picked up an assist in the 1-1 draw in the midweek league match against Beith a fortnight ago.

Hyslop then scored a double in the Bot’s 3-1 win over Montrose Roselea in the First Round of the Scottish Junior Cup, the following weekend.

The midfielder came good again at the weekend, opening the scoring for the Bot in the second half against Cumbernauld.

Kieran Healy’s cross from the right found Hyslop at the front post, who powered a header off the underside of the bar that bounced well behind the line before being hooked clear.

Aiden Wilson then doubled the hosts advantage at Beechwood Park, latching onto a loose ball on the left hand side of the box and blasting it into the top right corner.

Hyslop then completed the scoring for Talbot with not long to go on the clock.

It came via his head yet again, as he was well placed at the back post to flick in Mark Shankland’s cross from the right.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sloan said:“I am delighted for him and he has made an impact since he came back in.

“He got a couple of goals last week and did the same at the weekend, he is a really effective player.”

Next up for Talbot is a big derby match up in the league against Cumnock.

It is the first in a couple of years, due to COVID restrictions, with Sloan expecting a tough test at Townhead Park.

The manager said: “We are hoping to have a couple of players back for next week to make us a bit stronger.

“It is always a tough game and I am not expecting anything else at the weekend. Cumnock have had some good results recently that show they are well capable.

“We hope there is a big crowd in for it since it has been a while.”
