Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan says he is ecstatic as his side topped the Premier Division with a 2-0 win over Bonnyton Thistle at the weekend.

Goals from Steven White and Keir Samson gave the Bot another away win as they moved to top spot following the draw with Kilwinning Rangers.

Sloan said: “We are pretty happy with the start to the campaign, results wise we have been doing fine. Performance wise we were a bit brighter against Bonnyton in the first half so that gives us something to build on.“

Next up for Talbot, as they look to secure their hold on first, is a derby match against Glenafton.

The Glens will take the short trip to Beechwood Park on Wednesday night and Sloan says he is very aware of their capabilities despite their mixed start to the season.

The Talbot boss told the Chronicle: “It is going to be a really tough game.

“They have already taken points off Kilwinning Rangers and they ran Darvel close.

“Even though they lost their last two games they are a very capable side and it will be a big game for both clubs.”
