East Ayrshire Council’s Lifestyle Development and Community Wellbeing Team are once again hosting a Community Walking Festival in honour of the late Jim Dunlop who devoted many hours of his time volunteering as a Walk Leader with the team.
Jim was a great believer in getting as many people as possible involved in physical activity and exercise regardless of their age or ability.
The Walking Festival will see a range of walks take place over the week aimed at all ages and abilities.
The Festival kicks off on Monday, August 23 with the “Two Castles” (Dean and Craufurdland) Walk in Kilmarnock. On the Tuesday it’s the turn of Dumfries House near Cumnock with a led walk exploring its extensive grounds.
Tuesday 24 will be the Water Meetings walk at Kilmaurs, while on Thursday the team visits Dunlop for a walk around the village.
The finale of the Walking Festival will take place on the Saturday with a walk from Galston to Loudon Hill.
