Talbot boss Tommy Sloan says he was disappointed that his side couldn’t kick off their WOSFL campaign with a win as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Clydebank at Beechwood Park on Saturday.

The Auchinleck club were starting their new league campaign after being crowned SJFA West Region league champions least season.

The visitors took the lead as an attempted Neil McPherson clearance ended up in his own net. Kieran Healy and Keir Samson turned the game around for Talbot, before Clydebank equalised. Chances came for the home side to win the match, but they were unable to find that third goal.

Despite missing match through self-isolating, Tommy Sloan is not getting carried away with the result.

He told the Chronicle: “It’s a draw at home against a good team. Obviously we would’ve loved to start the campaign with a win, but we’ve had a tough pre season with boys missing for one reason or another so I knew we wouldn’t be in top form just yet.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming up so it’s important we make sure the boys are ready for them”.
