School trips looked a bit different but were equally as fun at Lochnorris PS & SLC this year.

The P1 and P2 classes enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic in the school grounds, P3, P4 and P5 enjoyed building dens and playing on the equipment at the Woodroad Park and P6 and P7 had a great time exploring the grounds of Dumfries House.

At Robert Burns Academy & SLC, students were excited to use the fantastic polytunnel and outdoor space to create a Market Garden Enterprise.

Cumnock Chronicle:

Pupils learned about profit/loss margins, marketing and advertising and flower and vegetable production. They also learned to grow local and seasonal vegetables and how gardening decreases their carbon footprint to combat climate change.

The school is part of the East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative, too, whose vision is to bring people and their landscape together, creating thriving communities with a sense of pride in their environment.

Cumnock Chronicle:

By working in partnership with the landowner, local schools, volunteers and organisations, the school aims to create a beautiful, wildflower rich meadow alongside well managed woodlands with an abundance of spring bulbs, helping pollinating insects. The EA CEI are encouraging families to get involved in this work.
