A WORKER from Irvine who has been lauded for breaking a whole host of world records over the years is back at it again – this time attempting a 15-hour wall sit for charity.

William Cannon is staging the wall sit at his workplace of Barony Universal on Monday, June 28 and is hoping to raise vital funds for DEBRA in the process – a charity which supports individuals and families affected by skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Although he has been doing wall sits for six years and holds over 40 world records for his efforts, William says this challenge will be “an eternity world record” as he aims to break the current world record of 12 hours and 45 minutes – currently held by himself.

William explained: “It is quite ambitious.

“No doubt someone will come along and overtake me in future because there are wall sit clubs now but I think it’s too far out of sight.

“That’s why I call it an eternity world record.

“I’m going the full 15 hours without toilet breaks and will be starving myself of food and water 24 hours before it, essentially nil by mouth. That stops you going trips to the toilet so basically you should be all dried up.

“You’ve got to live in your mind as opposed to living in the strength of your body and take your mind away from all thoughts of eating and go into another place.

“ I do a lot of yoga which helps me to meditate and bring out an inner strength in my mind so I feel I can drift away.”

If you wish to support William, he asks that you donate direct to DEBRA.
