H M Lord-Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran, Sheriff Iona McDonald OBE is pleased to announce that she has appointed well known Cumnock resident and former councillor, Eric Ross to the post of Deputy Lieutenant of Ayrshire and Arran.
Mr Ross is very well known and well respected in the Cumnock area having been a local councillor for many years.
He was Convenor of the former Cumnock and Doon Valley District Council and chair of the planning and development committee in East Ayrshire.
Deputy Lieutenants assist the Lord Lieutenant in her public duty and provide her with local knowledge in their own part of the community.
They are appointed following a rigorous process in which their nominations are considered at the highest level.
Sheriff McDonald said this week: “I am delighted to appoint Eric as a Deputy Lieutenant and I am sure that he will contribute significantly to the work of the Lieutenancy”.
