The counting has finished and the newly elected MSP for the Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency has been announced.
The returning officer has just confirmed that Elena Whitham of the Scottish Nationalist Party (SNP) has been elected to represent the region at Holyrood.
This means a SNP hold in the constituency as Ms Whitham takes over from Jeane Freeman, the former Health Secretary who announced her retirement from politics last year.
