Former first minister Alex Salmond has appeared in the latest episode of The Herald's brand new political podcast fronted by Brian Taylor.

The leader of the pro-indy Alba Party is the latest leader to appear on The Brian Taylor Podcast, following Douglas Ross and Patrick Harvie last week.

Former BBC Scotland political editor Brian Taylor grilled Mr Salmond on his relationship with the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon and looked at the policies from the new Alba Party.

In the 40-minute episode, Mr Salmond refused to rule out the idea of him becoming First Minister again - and admitted to a "major mistake" he made in the lead up to the 2014 independence referendum.
