East Ayrshire Council has launched a consultation for the upcoming budget and is seeking public contribution on a variety of topics.

Following the Scottish Government’s funding announcement on Thursday, January 28, plans for the council’s 2021/22 budget are currently being finalised.

Elected members across all parties have unanimously agreed that the budget for the forthcoming year should focus on recovery and renewal, with a particular focus on Wellbeing, Economy & Environment and Children and Young People. The council is inviting the public to have a say on those issues by filling out a survey on their website, or emailing vibrant.voices@east-ayrshire.gov.uk.

The budget consultation will run online until Sunday, February 21. Finalised proposals for the 2021/22 budget will be presented to Elected Members for approval in early March 2021.

A council spokesperson said: “COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on local communities – it’s changed the way we live, it’s changed the way we work and it’s changed the way we do business –and the council is keen to ensure that future spending and investment priorities reflect the voice of communities as part of East Ayrshire’s recovery and renewal.”
