New Cumnock Community Council have been helping the elderly and those self-isolating over Christmas by delivering hundreds of boxes of sweet treats right to their doorstep.

The Community Council was helped by the local amateur football team and Pathhead Bakery to deliver the boxes which comprised of French cakes, shortbread and a Christmas log.

Bobby Nicol, from the Community Council, said: “We decided to do something that could help those who aren’t seeing anyone this time of year. We got together to make up 300 boxes of treats to put a smile on their face.

“Seeing a young person going to an older person’s door was great. It was so heartfelt.”
