As Cumnock and surrounding areas braces itself for another day of freezing temperatures, icy roads and gritters galore, one creative local has picked up his video camera and documented the snowy scenes.

Lyle Dornan, of Auchinleck, shot his very own short film on Wednesday, January 6, taking viewers on a stunning panoramic exploration of the local area.

With atmospheric music playing in the background and a real artistic eye guiding the piece, the 23-year-old has managed to present the hills and sites of East Ayrshire as a majestic winter wonderland.

Lyle, who studies Photography, explained: “It's just something that I picked up during lockdown last year and I am now in college studying it.

“I've always been amused by seeing things from different perspectives and this has filled that hole completely. The more and more I go out, the better I am getting.

“I went out yesterday around 3pm and had all these things planned for a video and that is what I managed to come up with.

“The start of the video is of the old high house pit wheel, which I'm sure was all connected to the Barony A Frame.

"I then went up to the top of the High House Bing, a small hill which has views over Auchinleck and Cumnock from the top. For this video I was mainly in the high house area of Auchinleck.

“I am still enjoying my course and am learning more and more about the software side.”
