The movers and shakers at Mossgiel Farm are opening a coffee shop located in the very heart of Mauchline.

Farmer Bryce Cunningham and family will cut the ribbon on The Mossgiel Snug – an organic coffee shop featuring local farm produce for sale.

The Mossgiel Snug will set up shop at the former premises of Many Thanks Gift Shop – a move that brings them full circle as the shop was the first to receive a supply of milk from Mossgiel Farm.

Many Thanks remains next door.

The Snug will debut on Wednesday, December 16, with free hot chocolate for residents as Santa passes through the village.

Ashlea at Mossgiel said: “It’s something Bryce has been interested in doing for a while but it was a case of finding the right place in Mauchline to do it.

“We’re halving the shop so the left hand side will have a seating/snug area then on the right will be our milk vending machine with local cheeses, meats and oatcakes.”

The Mossgiel Snug will also offer a community space for residents and groups, after the closure of shared facilities in the village.

Cumnock Chronicle:

Ashlea continued: “There’s quite a buzz about the place. People have been poking their head through the door asking when we’re opening.

“Since the Mauchline Games Hall and the library was taken away, there aren’t many facilities for residents to use. So we’ll be leasing the space out for free to book clubs or knitting groups.

“We’re doing a children’s art competition every month where kids can hand in their artwork and get a free hot chocolate, cake and certificate.

“We’re also launching Mossgiel Nature Bug Club which will provide a nature pack for families to explore the local area outdoors.

“It’s about encouraging people to stay in Mauchline and use the local amenities.”

Bryce said: “It is exactly five years since we were in a really bad position and almost lost the farm so it is an amazing feeling to now be opening a coffee and local produce shop for the community.

“We want to thank all of our supporters who have been on this journey with us.”
