The Scottish Government has revealed why North Ayrshire has not yet been moved to level two restrictions.

In its latest weekly allocation of restriction levels, no changes were made across the country, although significant amendments could happen next week.

The Scottish Government has stated that there has been no 'consistent progress' in the last week in North Ayrshire that would warrant a move to level two.

In recent days, cases in North Ayrshire have slowly been declining, and a more significant change could be expected at the next review.

In the last week, the rate of cases per 100,000 of the population declined by one per cent, compared to 16 per cent across the country on average.

Largs and the surrounding area has seen a significant reduction in the rate of cases in the last recorded week.

In comparison, East Ayrshire has seen 'some improvement in case numbers and test positivity'.

Meanwhile, South Ayrshire has had 'no sustained improvement' in the last week.
