A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred in Cumnock at the weekend.

Around midday on Sunday, November 15 Police Scotland received reports of a 62-year-old woman having been robbed of a three figure sum of money in Townhead Street, Cumnock.

Following enquiries a 30-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the robbery.

The victim of the theft had her property returned to her by officers.

A full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the arrested man was held in custody to appear at Court.

Locality Policing Inspector for the area, Ian Harvey, commented: “We would like to thank all those who assisted our officers with their enquiries into this incident.

“The individual involved was quickly identified, arrested and charged and the stolen property has been returned to the victim.

“We are committed to tackling crimes of violence and dishonesty including robbery and continuing to work with the local community in doing so."
