A family are desperate for information on the whereabouts of their caravan after it was stolen from Muirkirk Caravan Park last week.

The couple, from Lanark, are said to be "devastated" after learning of the theft on the evening of Wednesday, November 11.

The white and grey coloured caravan was last seen at around 9.08pm and is believed to have been towed away by a silver coloured hatchback vehicle.

The man and woman are now appealing to locals for any information or sighting of the caravan. 

The couple's niece told the Chronicle: "The caravan is my aunt and uncle's pride and joy and they are absolutely devastated.

"The items inside are irreplaceable and hold a lot of memories."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers in Cumnock can confirm that they are investigating the theft of a caravan from Muirkirk.

"On the evening of Wednesday November 11, 2020, a twin axle white and grey coloured caravan was stolen from the Muirkirk Caravan Park in Furnace Road, Muirkirk.

"The caravan appears to have been hitched up to what is described as a silver coloured hatchback vehicle and towed away.

"It was last seen at around 9.08pm that night heading along Furnace Road towards Douglas and is believed to have passed through Muirkirk after the theft."

Anyone who may have been in the area or can assist with any information is asked to call police on the 101 number, quoting the reference 343 of 11 November.
