Central Bakers has shut its doors after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.
The individual concerned last worked on Monday, October 19 and was tested on Wednesday, October 21, the results came back positive on Friday, October 23. The cafe was closed for maintenance work on Saturday and has been shut since.
Staff at the cafe, on Central Avenue, Ardrossan, say that during that time all other staff members were contacted by NHS Test and Protect and told they needed to self-isolate until various different dates based on each individuals' last contact with the employee.
They will aim to reopen on Friday, October 30, the earliest they are allowed to, with employees working on that date all having spent the specified time away from the affected employee and having returned negative test results.
A spokesperson for the cafe said: "I would like to thank my customers so much for their support and custom during this time and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused."
