Pubs and restaurants across Ayrshire will remain closed for a further week, the First Minister announced.
Nicola Sturgeon said the current restrictions on hospitality will be continued until November 2, with the introduction of a new multi-tier lockdown system imminent.
The restrictions applied across Ayrshire and the central belt were originally expected to last until October 26.
On Friday, the Scottish Government will publish details of the new multi-tier system expected to come into force on November 2.
During the seven days to October 19, 521 people tested positive for coronavirus in NHS Ayrshire and Arran.
During the same period, three peope lose their lives to the disease having received a positive test for COVID-19.
