Parts of Scotland are set to be hit with heavy rainfall as Storm Alex arrives in the UK.

Amber and yellow weather warnings have been put in place on the east coast of the country over the weekend.

The Met Office has issued an amber warning in Aberdeenshire, Angus and Kincardineshrie for flooding, with these areas to expect flooding and heavy rainfall.

A yellow warning is also in place all along the east coast of the UK from the Orkney to Dover from 3am on Saturday until 12pm on Sunday.

The amber warning will be in place from 6pm on Saturday to 06:00 on Sunday.

The Met Office has warned that homes and businesses are likely to be hit with fastflowing and deep floodwater.

Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses are likely.

Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
