A member of staff at New Cumnock Primary School has vowed to wax his legs in the name of charity.

Mr McClure has promised that he will go through the ordeal if students and staff at the school raise £1,000 for charity.

The school is participating in West FM’s Cash for Kids School Challenge 2020 and they are attempting to walk 3000 miles between Monday, September 28 and Friday, October 23.

Each class will walk a minimum of a mile each day, nine laps of the playground, though some students are keen to do even more.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We’re trying to be as creative as possible with our fundraising efforts because of the current situation.

“The Daily Mile is something we can do in our class groups and the kids are loving it. They’re getting really competitive about it because we’re competing against other schools. We’re making it really fun for them.

“And of course everybody can’t wait to see Mr McClure scream his head off when he gets his legs waxed after we reach that £1,000 target.”

With 50 percent of the total raised going to Cash for Kids, a charity which supports the most vulnerable children in Ayrshire, the remaining 50 percent will be given to the school as a grant. The top three fundraising schools will receive 100 percent of cash raised and the chance of a top up from Cash for Kids of up to £2,500.

New Cumnock Primary School is competing against Annanhill Primary School, Auchenharvie Academy, Stewarton Academy, and Symington Primary School.
