A POPULAR family-run bistro in Sorn is offering free Christmas lunches.

The Jaggy Nettle extended the generous offer to elderly residents of Sorn who are spending Christmas alone.

The restaurant itself will not be open for business on Christmas day, but Rachael McRoberts and her partner Jonathan Ronin Royle will welcome those who will be spending the holidays alone inside to join them for the special day.

The lunches will be cooked and served by Rachael and Jonathan, who say that they will not be accepting payment in any form, including tips and donations.

The Jaggy Nettle will provide transport to and from the venue, and anybody that can’t leave home, can have their meal delivered.

Rachael said: “The past few Christmases have not been the best for me since losing my Gran and then my Grandpa last Christmas. It almost was a reality check in the sense that life is too short and Christmas should be about giving – I want my children to learn this sentiment.”

To nominate yourself or someone else to receive a free Christmas lunch, Rachael has said that you should message The Jaggy Nettle Facebook page.
