Students at St Patrick’s Primary School in Auchinleck have raised close to £1,000 for charity.

Through a variety of fundraisers, including a sponsored pyjama read, non-uniform day, and a job week, a total of £889.50 was raised.

The money will go to SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund.

SCIAF help families in poorer countries to live in peace, free them from hunger, poverty and injustice, learn new skills, and fully recover when disaster strikes.

Fundraising was begun prior to the coronavirus lockdown and though many activities designed to accrue more funds were cancelled, the students did incredibly well to raise this fantastic sum.

The money raised will be doubled by the Scottish Government, meaning a total of £1,779 will go to the charity.
