An Irvine mum is at the end of her tether after months of living with nightmare neighbours.

Briony McCann said she has had ongoing issues with nightmare neighbours for months and has asked to be moved numerous times due to the anti-social behaviour that is not only distressing her, but also her two year old son.

She said she has been told that suffering anti-social behaviour does not qualify her to be moved. Instead she would have to register as homeless in order to be given somewhere she would feel more safe.

Briony told the Times: “It’s all getting handled so badly. I will be left homeless, but why should I? I’m getting punished.

“I don’t want to be here anymore. I don’t know where to turn.”

Briony said that she has been threatened by neighbours who leave the garden and shared close area in a mess.

She claims that drug dealers have used the block as a place to sell and take illegal substances and she is scared for the safety of her little boy.

She said: “He sees and hears everything. Your child can feel vibes off you.”

She told the Times she lives in ‘constant fear’ whenever she needs to enter or leave her home.

She said: “I have to remember to put my phone on record for evidence. It’s a horrible way to live and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

“I’m scared for the welfare of my wane. They graffitied my door, they’ve threatened to kick my door in, and smash my windows.”

Briony wants North Ayrshire Council to move her to another property and said she has been asking for months.

She has spoken to the police numerous times and there is now a live anti-social behaviour case ongoing.

Briony is desperate but said she cannot afford to go private and does not want to give up her job, which means her housing claim would be treated as coming from an unemployed person.

She said: “I feel like giving up. I’ve came this whole way, I’ve always got this wee bit of hope.

“But I’ve hit a brick wall.”

A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We are speaking to Ms McCann about the issue of anti-social behaviour.

“As this is a live case, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
