A MAN who tried to flee from police officers and while clutching a knife and drugs has been jailed for 14 months.
Jamie Drum, 36, was snared jumping over a fence in Glasgow’s Pollok area in July this year.
Drum had earlier spotted two officers on bikes coming towards him and ran off.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Drum entered a garden in an effort to “avoid detection.”
Officers kept tabs on Drum who jumped back over the fence onto Househillmuir Road before making off at speed.
Officers quickly caught up with Drum, who appeared nervous as well as unsteady on his feet, and searched him.
Prosecutor Adele Macdonald said: “They recovered a 20cm black lockback knife from his waistband area in his clothing.”
Valium tablets were also found on him and he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty yesterday to the unlawful possession of a knife in a public place.
Harvie Diamond, defending, told the court Drum was on Valium at the time and had “no recollection” of having the knife or where he got it.
Sheriff Alan Mackenzie said: “In view of your record of your record which includes analogous offending, a custodial sentence in the only appropriate sentence, as you recognise.”
